Landing Craft (Gun) Medium-102 was a landing craft modified with two British Army 25 pounder gun-howitzers in armoured mountings. Designed to provide close in fire support during amphibious landings, they were capable of going in with the landing craft and providing immediate fire support.

LC(G)M-102 took part in the amphibious landings on the Dutch island of Walcheren on 1 Nov 1944. She closed to point blank range and engaged superior German shore batteries, being shot to pieces but diverting the German guns from the landing craft full of troops as they headed ashore.

Withdrawing under heavy fire, the landing craft sank with the loss of all 41 crew, but thanks in part to her sacrifice, the landing was a success, leading to the German surrender. ...
