Rimpac 2014

Post by rritchie71 »

Guys, every two years Rimpac is held off Hawaii. Lots of different ships, and as video gets better and better so does the way we get to see the ships.

Scott, I noticed USS Spruance is there, so their will be a lot of good photo's of her later.

Cheers

A couple of things stand out about this Rimpac.

1. The PLAN are participating for the first time, with a destroyer, frigate, replenishment ship and a hospital ship, the 'Peace Ark', apparently thats the translation.

2. The participants are coming from further afield, with Singapore and India sending ships. The award for furthest and most unlikely participant is the Norwegian frigate Fridtjof Nansen, which is participating to validate its Aegis system and SM-missiles on the Pacific Missile Test Range as part of the exercise.

3. The Kiwi's are back participating after decades of not playing.

Unfortunately Australia's contribution has dwindled down to Success, a Collins class, an Orion, some clearance divers and a Learjet.
