Indeed you are correct Nigel, I transposed two different captions.

Canberra shadowed Frunze and her task group. This shot came from that encounter, together with a number of other shots. Navy News ran with the shot of Frunze and Canberra together on its front page back in November 1985.

The far traveller, HMAS Lismore. She served in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Indian Ocean and the Pacific, the farthest travelled of the Navy's Bathurst class corvettes.

On 3 December 1944 Lismore arrived at Fremantle, her first call at an Australian port since leaving Darwin for Singapore on 20 March 1941. Her absence from Australia was longer than that of any other Royal Australian Navy ship of World War II.

On 2 January 1945 Lismore returned to Sydney after an absence of nearly four years (1409 days). She had steamed some 156,000 miles since commissioning.

Her war wasn't over, as she joined the 21st Minesweeping Flotilla and took part in operations through the Pacific, including the invasion of Okinawa. Post VJ-Day, Lismore served for several months in the Darwin, Timor and Moluccas areas before returning to Sydney in March 1946.

Great image of Adelaide & Westralia Mike. The four (five if we include the single type Oakleaf), Leaf Class Tankers served the RFA well, and proved to be a good investment.

In regards to Westralia Nige. Her Ran service was poor her nick name was rusty failure and often breaking down and the mismanagement and negligence which caused the engine room fire with 4 sailors lost. Not a shining moment for the navy

HMAS Jeparit was an Australian National Lines bulk carrier which was operated by the Royal Australian Navy between 1969 and 1972. She was launched in 1964 and transported supplies to Australian military forces in South Vietnam between 1966 and 1972 under both civil and military ownership.
