Huon Class in Storage

Post by webadmin »

Spotted recently at HMAS Waterhen was HMAS Hawkesbury and Norman looking very much in storage with their Venting Systems on board and Solar panels above the bridge. Chaffe Launchers, RIB's and Anchors Removed. These ships wont be going anywhere fast.

Sad, mine hunters are pound for pound the most expensive ships in any Navy (well perhaps with the exception of the Russian Navy's titanium hulled submarines) and the skills necessary to operate them effectively are very perishable.

Having some acting as patrol boats and others tied up like this is a waste of resources.

There was two of the Huon class being used as 'Patrol Boats' a few years ago. Sadly not at this time.
