FBP celebrated a major milestone today, apart from my coffee cup holder (see 3D printed parts)…. and the fact for first time in months (literally), the sun was out and we had great weather and could actually sail.....
Today, for the first time, we had two ‘flat tops’ out on the water. Whilst technically Andrews JMSDF Osumi is an LST, it still has a flight deck for helo’s just like our Canberra class LHD’s or a US Wasp class.
So we formed a CBG (Carrier Battle Group) on HMS Hermes (which is coming along very nicely I should add) and sailed round for a long while very nicely, with only one close call when Pete decided to exit to port either passing just ahead or astern (depending on which model you refer to).
Almost everyone had a close call during the day, but these were caused by individuals not paying attention …….. i.e. the reeds don’t move for you, just like light houses, or an FFG7 cannot turn on a dime like an Arleigh Burke with individual engines…. It was a day when it showed how rusty you get when you haven’t sailed as a group for several months.....
All in all it was a great day with half the members there, all on the water.
PS... if you look at HMS Hermes full power 1, you will see water going in at the opening and coming out as overboard discharge two port holes later, lucky you sealed it Glen....
Cheers
Robert

I found a photo of a 'young' HMS Hermes at speed, looks like your model moves like the real one did Glen......
