Post by fastone045 »

Hi Members,

TF72 has been invited to the CMSS Expo2018 run by Canberra Model Shipwrights Society Inc
http://www.canberramodelshipwrights.org.au

Here is the information from the organisers, our president has indicated that he will be attending so he will be a good point of contact if you have any questions along with the Canberra boys.

CMSS EXPO 2018

Please come and help us celebrate this year as it is the 30th anniversary of the CMSS. You are invited to attend and exhibit at our Expo 2018. This year EXPO 2018 will be held on 15 & 16 September at the Mt Rogers Primary School, Alfred Hill Drive, MELBA, ACT, 2165, the same venue as in previous years.

Timing especially for setting up will be similar to previous years. The event will again be held during school term.
Friday 14th The school will be available for set –up from 3:15 pm till about 6:00 pm except for ACT SMS, TF72 and ACTMB exhibitors. Their room will not be available till shortly after 5:30 pm. Members will also be on hand from 8:30 the following morning to assist those who travel down on that day.
Saturday 15th Public opening will be 10:00 am and will close for the day at 5:00 pm. Formal opening is expected to be at 11:00 am. Tucker box will start about 5:30 pm.
Sunday 16th Public opening will be 10:00 am and will close at 3:30 pm.

We fully understand that it is sometimes difficult to predict which models or nautical items you will bring along to exhibit. Nevertheless, it would be helpful if you let us know first, if you can attend and secondly, the exhibits you will bring along.

As I will be away off and on till and after the Expo could you please make Max Fitton the initial point of contact for Expo co-ordination.
His details are:
Email: seagoon@iinet.net.au Telephone: 08 9586 2759

This year we would like to issue a catalogue and the provision of the following information to achieve this aim is most important. This has been requested by the correspondent who photographed models during the exhibition and subsequently produced a very good article on the exhibition for the January-February edition of Australian Model Engineering. Following up on this a further article on Janos Nemeth’s work was published in the March-April edition.
a. Your Name;
b. Model/item Exhibited;
c. Scale, whether kit or scratch built and kit manufacturer. If possible could you please include a photograph of the model/item? (See form last page); and
d. A brief description of ship type period or any other relevant details.

We will also provide cards with these details for displaying next to the model/item. This information will then be published on our website in the area available generally.

Morning Tea, Lunch sausage sizzle and afternoon tea will be available as usual. Tucker will also be provided on Saturday evening shortly after the close of the EXPO for the day. It would help in catering if you will be kind enough to let us know by Friday pm, 16th that you wish to partake of the evening tucker.

We have developed our Expos for the enjoyment of modellers, who may or may not be members of our Society. We will be happy to hear from you any ideas that you may have to improve our Expos, and help exhibitors and others enjoy the event more fully.

To summarize:
1. Enter the dates of Expo 2018 in your diary ¬ 14 (set-up) to 16 September.
2. Please let us know you intend to attend as soon as possible.
3. If you know what model/nautical items you intend to exhibit and their approximate size, it would be helpful to let us know in advance.
4. Please let us know, no later than Friday 15th September, but preferably earlier, that you wish to attend the Saturday evening “Tucker Box”.

We hope to see you there and please let us know if there is anything we can help you with to ensure you have a very good time and that we have another successful EXPO.

Yours Sincerely
Peter Hateley

The attendance of Task Force 72 has always been a great feature of our Expos something that we as the organisers appreciate very much. The delight seen on the faces of the public who come to view our offerings whether they be from TF72 or other groups has to be noted and enjoyed.

We look forward to your continued support. Without it, our Expo would be much diminished.

Cheers

Max
