Fleet Base Perth - Sailing Day Sunday 2 December 2018

Post by PearlHarbour52 »

Blue skies and little wind presented itself at Jackadder Lake on Sunday morning. Perth itself has experienced a wetter than average winter with longer cold and wet days; however, after only 2 weeks of sunshine the lake has already dropped by a metre and with it brings a lot of drifting weed which caused a few colourful words to members as they constantly had to do propeller checks or self gardening of the lake and at one point a rescue mission was required to save one of the boats that decided that weeds and propellers do not mix.

Members that attended were Andrew, Nigel, Glen, Ron, Pete and Bob. With Pete undertaking regular patrols with his USS Skipjack, plenty of 'targets' were on offer to him, with HMS Manchester getting a long overdue sail, Nigel's HMAS Toowoomba, Glen's Liberty Ship and Bob's USS Missouri.

One very positive event that took place was the presentation of the Meritorious Service Citation to Serge Serafini's wife Anne, who came down for the morning. She was very humble and very delighted in receiving the award on behalf of Serge and will pop down every now and then to say hello.

A good morning had by all
