Fleet Base West - Sailing Day, Sunday 9 June 2019

Post by PearlHarbour52 »

The aim of Sundays sail day was to remember our members that have passed away, Ewan McDonald and Serge Serafini. The day was blessed as the weather started perfectly with no wind and the water looking like glass.

The wind picked up a little and brought some weed in but sailing was still happening. Serges’ wife Anne and his family turned up and enjoyed the company of the crew as we showed her HMS Ardent sailing around. This was cut short by a couple of dud battery’s but Ardent did mange around an hour of sailing.

The usual crew turned up, Nigel with HMAS Towoomba, Bob with his tugboat, smoking away to put that lovely smoker to use, Pete with USNS Hiddensee and our newest member, Jeff with his own design fast ferry powered by water jets. Graeme and Glen were also there in support.

A good morning had by all.
