Novel way to promote sail/running days
One of our members in FBGW came up with a good idea to advertise to Joe Public re up coming running days, using a local community based fm radio station over here in Adelaide (COASTAL FM) the service is free We have been advertising our projected Oz day sail . Hopefully it may stimulate some interest in our hobby.

Excellent initiative!
We do send out notifications to local radio stations for the Annual regatta, but the Sydney stations rarely mention it because it is 'out of Sydney' and the Blue Mountains based FM station (The Edge 96.1) is desperate to be thought of as part of the Sydney market (to attract advertisers and to charge Sydney radio market advertising rates) that they downplay their Blue Mountains connections.
Sigh.
Well, will keep pushing.

A good idea Graham especially for growing the activity and attracting new members. That said, I would not want to see all runs advertised this way - sometimes its nice to just turn up with club members and run.

G'day Graham, FBWW uses the community billboard on the local FM station to promote our main running day. We also found that the local ABC station will promote your event on their community billboard and the local Tourist Information Centre will also promote your event in thei office. Maybe Tourist Information would also promote the Regatta at WWF?
