Nice driving - not - inexcusable given the location and well maintained navigational aids in that area.
What were they thinking?

Two interesting tid bits from the article re damage:

The ship is on silt not rock -probably less damage to the hull than a rock grounding BUT

If the ships is to be TOWED back to Fastlane, its likely the pumpjet has ingested silt or other seafloor crap making it either inoperable or a risk of further damage to fire it up and drive it home.
I'd think if they could drive her home they would, she's been the subject of high cost objections - more so now given the cuts facing the UK economy. If they could drive her home it would be better PR saying - it was a minor incident -proof: she came home under her own power.

Career ending stuff?
