Afixing props to shaft - how?

I've received a new brass 40 mm prop from Floataboat (thanks Rhonda) and it fitted straight onto my existing M4 prop shaft. Phew! Is it necessary to fix the prop onto the shaft permanently with solder or locktite? I imagine in time it could fall off in the middle of the pond if not careful.

cheers,

Paul

Go with Loctite243!! I once lost a prop off USS Long Beach during early testing for this very reason! In a full reverse situation the prop will unwind off the shaft...

Hi Paul , Yes I agree with Bruce regarding using Loctite 243 , but make sure it is " Medium " strength . I would also wind on a brass or stainless steel nut onto the thread before afixing the prop, put a drop of loctite into the thread of the prop and thread onto shaft , locking nut against prop once wound onto shaft. Guarantee you won't lose your prop. Reason for Medium strength is best if you ever need to remove prop.
