Allied convoy sailing from Alexandria to Malta engaged by Italian warships in the Mediterranean, 22 March 1942. HMS Cleopatra throws out smoke to shield the convoy as HMS Euryalus elevates her forward 5.25-inch guns to engage the enemy.
In this Second Battle of Sirte three Dido class anti-aircraft cruisers (Dido, Euryalus and Cleopatra) and the 6 inch light cruiser Penelope and a range of H, J, K, L and Tribal class destroyers, fended off an Italian force of the battleship Littorio, two heavy cruisers (Gorizia, Trento), one light cruiser (Giovanni delle Bande Nere) and ten destroyers, preventing them from getting through to the convoy.
