For those that are interested the 1/72 Foxtrot kit has been developed and is soon to be released with a dedicated / purpose built water tight cylinder.

More details are here. This thread shows hull kit no.1 being assembled in the hands of a Professional.

http://forum.sub-driver.com/showthread. ... #post11170

The kit was developed by Rick Paublo of RPM models in the US with David Merriman doing the drive bits and pieces, fine details, water tight cylinder (Subdriver) and torpedo nests fore and aft. (10 tubes).

this is a niced sized kit, with abundant features and working triple screws.
OAL in 1/72 = 1249mm

I was going to buy one of these, but have thrown myself behind the new 1/72 Seawolf http://forum.sub-driver.com/showthread. ... #post10533, and finishing up my own 1/72 Sturgeon and DSRVs, and later this year I take possession of a 1/72 Victoria Class. The former and latter boats decked out with Mk48s at a cost that could eclipse the Foxtrot! Bloody defence budgets! The former might have an optical mast video recorder as the sail on the Wolf is massive. Thanks to Oz Truck for the heads up on that tech.

The Foxtrot wiki page is here:

A good site too is Federation of American Scientists:
