The Minister and Chief of Navy have announced that the 12 new submarines, the French-designed Shortfin Barracuda class, will resurrect previous RAN names, just not those of previous submarines.
They will be known as the Attack class, the names of which were last borne by Attack class patrol boats, the last of which left service in 1985.
The first boat will be HMA Submarine Attack.
The question will be if they stick with just A names, or include some of the B names previously used such as Barricade, Bayonet and Bombard.
Whats been spotted in and around our Navy
