Mawson Lakes 27th running day

Post by BsHvyCgn9 »

G'day Ablebodied peoples......sigh,

We had our second run at the Shearwater Lake here in SA while they finish clearing up the Clipsal500 track areas near our regular spot at Rymil Park, both lakes are excellent for rc models except that Rymil has better public facilities(loos) and is easier for launching larger models which can pose a problem at Mawson lakes for our older members.
Today's run marked the 1st time my own USS Long Beach missed an outing although I was joined on the sidelines by both Warner and Graham who both have bad backs!! We still had an excellent turnout with some prospective new members making themselves known, this will add another HMAS Vampire,a scratchbuilt Huon class minesweeper, and yet another Flower class corvette 2 the ranks.
Regular's Scott, Jim, Ritchie, Vince and Brenton had a selection models out for the day, with guest Bob bringing his never before even wet Flower class for a test and his 1/24 scale Fairmile PB bought for $80 from a garage sale!
Scotty had HMAS Parramatta[IV] out for a run, and HMS Active [type21] for test run with her new Buehler motors.
Brenton had HMAS Parramatta[III] out for a run with more superstructure completed she is really starting 2 take shape now.
Vince picked yours truly up for the drive after finishing a 12 hour night shift and 2 hours sleep!! He was running on pure caffeine and still managed 2 have some fun sailing his FFG HMAS Sydney....before heading off home for some much needed sleep!!
Ritchie.....managed to have his Flower class USS Saucy conk out again :crs: :crs: this time with a flat Lipo battery!
Twas a good day overall not 2 hot, no wind next run will probably be 1st Sunday in May as everyone has family duties on the Easter super long weekend.
