What glue do you use

I am about to have a go at a Bathurst Corvette and have cut out the keel and ribs. I was wondering if there is any special glue used or just the plain old wood glue.

I also have some Bondcrete here and was wondering that would be OK.

Bob,

Do you know that Allan Pew does this in fibreglass & has a semi kit of it?

Michael yes I do know about the Allan Pew hull and kit but I wanted to have a go at building myself. Just to see if I could.

I have a set of his plans for it that I purchased from him

If it dosn't work out then I'm onto him for the hull and kit

Good Day Bob

I use SikaBond-TechGrip, brought mine from Bunnings, 100% waterproof, it will also glue styrene to wood (if you decide to use styrene for anything), and fairly cheap. The other is super strenght Araldite (the 5 minute stuff isn't waterproof).

Are you going to fibreglass the hull to seal the wood?

Richard thank you for your response. I have a trip to Bunnings on the way.

Yes I'm going to fibreglass and seal, again just to see the implications of me doing it. At the moment it's all a big learning curve. Having just joined TF72 I am hoping there are a few brains here in Brisbane that I can latch onto for help as I'm sure going to need it.

Thank you for your PM - will get back to you today.

Bob,

Try having a chat with Mark Buttsworth. He has a nice Bathurst in operation.
