FBGS Run Hubertus Navy Arvo 7th January 2017

Post by MichaelB »

The first Navy Arvo of the year was a busy one with fine weather and a Russian Invasion with everything from Mick Elst’s big 1/72 Admiral Kuznetsov and Frunze down to Peter Cole's small and fast 1/35th scale Russian Torpedo Boat showing what fun a small model can be.

The Russian fleet, including a spy trawler, spent some time shadowing a USN Tico just to annoy it.

Only one event stood out which was poor Mick Elst’s misfortune with Kuznetsov. This was to be its first run but prop problems meant she had to come out of the water and came to grief when accidently dropped. Unfortunately it looked like a hard bang with some serious damage to the model’s rudders and shafts. We hope to see her back in the water and running soon.

Finally the weather got to us and we retreated to the club house for food, drink and air conditioning.

Photos attached taken by Messrs Taylor, James and Brown as noted.
