12 Mile Creek play day
Posted: 24 Feb 2020 14:43
The first run day for the year at 12 Mile Creek was held on Saturday with pleasant cloudy weather & a pond full of water, first time in years !
Attendance was always going to be down, with the loss of several stalwart members last year, so the roll up was just 'the 3 Amigos', Richard, Rob
& Allan. OK someone is bound to correct that to 'the 3 Stooges' so I'll get in before ya !
Richard brought HMAS BURNIE ( Bathurst cl ), HMCS RUNNYMEDE ( River cl ) & new Yank build USS RUDDEROW ( Rudderow cl DE ).
Rob brought HMS POPPY ( Flower cl ), & HMS RESPOND ( RN Fleet Tug, as retired).
Allan brought HMS SAVAGE ( 'S' cl fleet destroyer ) which didn't even venture out of the wagon, & new Yank build USS BASSETT, APD 73
( Charles Lawrence cl Fast Transport ).
The 2 new yank DE's were to have builders trial runs, but Richard's RUDDEROW had radio issues so stayed on the table all day looking quite smick.
Photos mostly taken by Rob, a couple by Allan when he wasn't playing with new toy.
