Rymil Park Non-gale day!!
G'day All!!
We had a brilliant bit of weather for out 1st run of the spring (it is spring isn't it??) season with a massive turnout of models almost all running , everyone had a boat in the water. Warner returned from his holiday up on 80 mile beach with much of HMS Hood's superstructure done, she's not running yet but we had her in the lake for some ballast trials wait till you see Scotty's pic's!! Jim Warren returned from his epic WA trip with plenty of story's of mishaps and lucky escapes on the way home!! His HMAS Vampire run sweetly and quickly with her new Buehler motor's
Scotty brought along his super cheap swapmeet bargain HMS ACTIVE !! and APS type 21 incomplete for $190 !! and radically overpowered with a pair of 540 car type motor's ( they were almost smoking when he pulled her out the water!! ) and his HMAS Parramatta, Brenton had his earlier HMAS Parramatta out for a spin, Richee had his lipo powered Flower class HMS SAUCY screaming about on the plane!!! his ESC was set 2 LUDCRIS speeed!!
Graham had his Bathurst class minesweeper out for a spin, Vince had HMAS Sydney cruisin the lake, joined by HMAS Darwin which Richee is building for Graham. I brought along the big bugga ( USS Long Beach) with both main radar's rotating and my Tug hull for show and tell!! Guest Chris who I came across on the RCgroups site brought along his Duma's 1/150 Akula sub which attracted alot of interest from the little kid's who where swarmin around , lots of BIG kids asked alot of questions 2!!
here R a couple of teaser pic's until we can get a mision report sent in!!
Cheers Bruce
Ps even LB can't touch Scott's type 21 its MENTAL!!

Homer award preparations eh Bruce.
Sorry can't resist it - from this angle the resemblance is uncanny - and I figured from the driving descriptions you could have had a blow in from over here.
Good to see you had nice weather

Re: Rymil Park Non-gale day!!
Here is the overhead view giving a nice look at the empty lake in 2008, the lake is fairly deep in the center's of both sections, the shallow area where I was standing is for council vehicle access to the island (and has about a 3' drop off at the concrete edges) We circumnavigated the island with a convoy of 5 ships , It also provides a nice spot 2 control your model from.

Good work on uploading a good collection of images on the day. One thing you can make your images larger in dimensions. I usually upload at 1024X768 pix. Well done anyway and I look forward to seeing more from the guys in SA.

Re: Rymil Park Non-gale day!!
Thx John!
Yep its a nice size, easy 2 get boats in and weed free, unlike the much bigger lake at Mawson lakes which is a bugga 2 launch any size bigger than a Flower class due 2 slippery ramp and has an infestation of fine weed that slowly clogs prop shafts up.
Cheers Bruce

Re: Rymil Park Non-gale day!!
HAHA !! I wouldn't mind a nice sub, only problem with Rymil Park is the water is not very clear due 2 the Ducks...pesky devils visibility is about 12-18", but if you are at an angle from shore ya can't C much at all.
One of the ponds we have been planting around at work is clear as glass and deep 2 and shaped like a horse shoe its about half again as big as Rymil park. Main problem's R extracting yourself from the mud once you have launched your vessel !!(sub or ship)and the steepness of the pond sides. A couple of the other ponds we have been planting around R good 2 but none of them have Model boat access in mind when they planned em.
Cheers Bruce
