What class was it? The periscope group looks Russian, but not sure.

Its most likely with those scopes in that order an Improved Kilo 636 class. Could be the forerunner 877 - clearer video would be a help. That said, most of the scope layouts are similar on a range of Russian subs, the daring of passing the ship that close, albeit at slow speed, to me rules out a Russian nuke of any kind (and the snorkel is a giveaway that its a diesel), the beam would have cleared the vessel on top by mere whiskers. The Kilo too is fatty so if its not that it could be the very last of the Foxes. The beam on that slender boat would provide a few more metres clearance, but the snorkel setup seems too modern - which is why I'd say Kilo.
