Aerial view of the Leander-class light cruiser HMS Neptune. She sank after having struck several mines, part of an Italian minefield, with only one survivor on 20 December 1941. The other cruisers present of Force K, Aurora and Penelope, also struck mines.

D-Day. HMS Belfast left Scapa Flow for Normandy on June 2nd. She was the flagship of Bombardment Force E, supporting troops landing at Gold and Juno beaches, spent 33 days supporting the landings and fired over 4,000 6-inch and 1,000 4-inch shells.
