First Type 31 frigate laid down
The first steel has been cut for the first of the RNs 'Inspiration' class frigates, the future HMS Active.
The Type 31 frigate will replace the rest of the general-purpose Type 23 frigates, those not replaced by the Type 26 Glasgow class.
