G'day All,
Today FBGW had a static Display at the [empty] Bonython Park model boat pond here in Adelaide in order 2 show the Adelaide City Council rep's what size/type models we run and so we could indicate our needs for their upcoming redevelopment of the area.
We enlisted some of the SAShipwright members 2 bring some of their models along, but the display was mostly Gray...apart from the brothers G &G with their massive 1/50 Crane Barge and trio of large 1/50 scale model's.
FBGW had on display USS Long Beach, USS Fife, USS Scott, USS Saucy, USS Plunger, HMS Hood,HMAS Parramatta, HMAS Vampire, HMAS Tobruk, HMAS Sydney, HMAS Katoomba, and 2 small PT boats....we wanted 2 make an impression
Cheers Bruce (B2)
PS thanks 2 Warner for picking me and LB up!!

Well done FBGW, that will help your profile in the city. Did any newspapers show up to take photos. If not might help to send a couple to them and they might use them as fillers.

That would be a shame to loose that spot.
When /where did the water go?
A great display and a credit to all FBGW members.

Re: FBGW-Bonython Park Display Sun 20th march
If memory serves the pond was allowed 2 dry up approx. 3-5 years ago due 2 the drought at the time and the cracked concrete. The city council didn't have the funds at the time for repairs and inline with the state govt's level2 water restriction's they decided not 2 refill the pond.

Re: FBGW-Bonython Park Display Sun 20th march
On Friday morning I dropped in to Bonython Park to see if any work had started on our pond that we have missed for so many years. The talks of all this work have been going for over 12 months so it was really good to see that they have started the water proofing on the edges of the pond.YEAH!!!!!!!! Scott
